Convert leads into opportunities

Leads act as an initial qualification stage in the CRM pipeline before becoming opportunities. This process allows teams to evaluate potential deals before assigning them and moving them forward in the sales cycle.

In the CRM pipeline, Leads serve as the first step in evaluating potential deals before turning them into Opportunities. This stage allows your team to assess quality, gather information, and determine whether a lead is worth pursuing before assigning it to a salesperson.

Configuration

To enable the Leads feature:

  1. Go to CRM app ‣ Configuration ‣ Settings

  2. Enable the Leads option

  3. Click Save

Once activated, a Leads menu will appear in the top navigation bar of the CRM interface.

By default, this feature is enabled for all sales teams. If needed, you can disable it for a specific team:

  • Navigate to CRM app ‣ Configuration ‣ Sales Teams

  • Select the desired team

  • Uncheck the Leads option

  • Save your changes

Convert a lead into an opportunity

To convert a lead:

  1. Go to CRM app ‣ Leads

  2. Open the lead you want to convert

Warning

If a lead has a probability set to 100%, attempting to convert it will trigger an error.

Click the Convert to Opportunity button at the top of the record.

A conversion window will open. In this window:

  • Select Convert to opportunity under Conversion Action

  • Assign a Salesperson (optional)

  • Choose a Sales Team (auto-filled if a salesperson is selected)

If the lead is already assigned, these fields will be pre-filled.

Customer options

Under the Customer section, you can choose how the opportunity is linked:

  • Create a new customer
    Use this option to generate a new customer record from the lead details

  • Link to an existing customer
    Select an existing contact from the list to associate with this opportunity

Once everything is set, click Create Opportunity.

To access the converted opportunity, go to CRM app ‣ My Pipeline.

Merge with existing leads or opportunities

If a Similar Leads smart button appears, it indicates that a matching record already exists in the system. Before converting, it’s recommended to review these matches.

Click the smart button to compare records and decide whether merging is appropriate.

To merge during conversion:

  1. Click Convert to Opportunity

  2. Select Merge with existing opportunities under Conversion Action

This will display a list of similar records available for merging.

During the merge process, the system combines data into the earliest created record, and the final result will always be treated as an opportunity.
