Preparation display

The preparation display helps manage POS orders that require preparation, allowing teams to track progress and streamline workflows in retail and restaurant environments.

The preparation display is designed to organize and monitor orders that require preparation before delivery or pickup.

It is useful in different scenarios:

  • Retail: Staff are notified after payment to prepare items for customer pickup

  • Restaurants: Orders are sent to the kitchen for meal preparation

Configuration

Enable the feature

To activate the preparation display:

  1. Go to POS Settings

  2. Scroll to the Preparation section

  3. Enable Preparation Display

Create a preparation display

  1. Go to Point of Sale ‣ Orders ‣ Preparation Display

  2. Click New

  3. Enter a name (e.g., Kitchen, Bar, Pickup Counter)

Configure the display

Set up the following:

  • Point of Sale
    Select which POS sends orders to this display

  • Product categories
    Choose which categories should appear (e.g., Food, Drinks)

  • Stages
    Define preparation steps (e.g., To Prepare, Ready, Completed)

For each stage:

  • Add a new line

  • Optionally assign a color

  • Set an Alert timer (minutes) to track delays

Note

To edit an existing display, click the () menu on the display card and select Configure.

Overview

To view all preparation displays:

  • Go to Point of Sale ‣ Orders ‣ Preparation Display

Each display shows:

  • Configured stages

  • Number of orders in progress

  • Average preparation time

Tip

Use the Kitchen Display app from the dashboard for quick access.

Using the preparation display

Click Preparation Screen to open the staff interface.

This view includes:

Order tracking

  • Orders grouped by stages (e.g., To Prepare, Ready)

  • Number of orders per stage

Product grouping

  • Items organized by POS categories (e.g., Drinks, Food)

Order cards

Each order displays:

  • Order number and table (if applicable)

  • Current status with color indicators

  • Waiting time

Note

If preparation time exceeds the defined alert timer, the indicator turns red.

Update order progress

  • Click individual items to mark them as completed

  • Click the entire card to complete all items

  • Orders automatically move to the next stage

If needed:

  • Click Recall to move the order back to the previous stage

Customer display

You can also provide customers with order status updates.

Click Order Status Screen to open the customer-facing display.

This screen shows:

  • Orders Ready for pickup

  • Orders In progress (Almost there)

Note

Customers can find their order number on their receipt.
