Customer display

The customer display feature shows real-time order details on a secondary screen during checkout, improving transparency and customer experience.

The customer display provides live updates on a secondary screen during the checkout process. It shows:

  • Items added to the cart

  • Running subtotal

  • Payment details

  • Total amount due

  • Selected payment method

  • Change to be returned

Note

Both the POS screen and customer display should be at least 6 inches in size. Larger displays are recommended for better visibility.

Configuration

The customer display can be used in two ways:

  • Connected directly via USB-C or HDMI

  • Connected through an IoT system

The feature is enabled by default, but you can customize its appearance.

Set background image

  1. Go to POS Settings

  2. Scroll to Connected Devices

  3. Click Upload your file to set a background image

Using an IoT-connected display

To use a screen via IoT:

  1. Open POS Settings

  2. Enable IoT Box

  3. Click Save

Then:

  1. Connect and configure your IoT system
  2. Return to POS settings

  3. Select the screen in the Customer Display field

Open the customer display

To launch the display:

  1. Open the POS register
  2. Click the menu icon (☰)

  3. Select Customer Display

The display will either:

  • Open in a new browser window (for external screens)

  • Appear directly on the IoT-connected display

Note

For IoT setups, both the POS and display device must be connected to the same local network.

Android dual-screen setup

For POS terminals running the Odoo mobile app with dual-screen support:

  1. Install the Point of Sale Mobile module
  2. Open the POS register

  3. Click the menu icon (☰)

  4. Select Customer Display

The display will automatically appear on the secondary screen.
