IoT system connection

Connect Odoo Point of Sale with an IoT system to enable communication with hardware devices such as printers, scanners, and payment terminals.

To link your POS with an IoT system, follow these steps:

Setup process

  1. Ensure both the Point of Sale and IoT apps are installed in your database

  2. Configure your IoT environment:

Connect devices

Attach your hardware devices to the IoT system:

DeviceSetup instructions
PrinterConnect a compatible receipt printer via USB or network and power it on. See order printing.
Cash drawerConnect the drawer to the printer using an RJ25 cable.
Barcode scannerEnsure the scanner appends an ENTER key (keycode 28) at the end of each scan. This is usually enabled by default.
ScaleConnect and power on the scale.
Customer displayConnect a display screen to show POS orders.
Payment terminalSetup depends on the device. Refer to payment terminal documentation.

Connect IoT to Odoo

  1. Connect the IoT system to your Odoo database

  2. When prompted, select the Associated POS and click Continue

The IoT system and connected devices will be automatically linked to your POS.

Tip

You can also configure this manually:

  1. Go to POS Settings

  2. Open your POS configuration

  3. Enable IoT Box

  4. Select the devices to use

  5. Click Save
